Scott A. Tallent - Attorney at Law

Trusted Legal Advocacy for Missouri Families

Born into a military family, Scott Tallent’s early life was defined by the discipline and global perspective of a navigator’s son. His father, a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross in the Vietnam War, instilled in him a deep respect for service, integrity, and meticulous attention to detail. After a 23-year journey living across the world as a military child, Scott settled in Missouri, where he has practiced law for two decades.

Scott holds a degree in Computer Systems Management and earned his Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law, where he was awarded Academic Excellence for the highest grade in International Law. This unique background in technology and scholarship allows him to bring a high level of technical precision to the complex documentation required in modern estate and elder law planning.

From the Courtroom to the Living Room

Before focusing his practice on families and seniors, Scott served as a Missouri State Public Defender and an Assistant City Counselor for the City of Saint Louis. Having managed complex litigation in municipal, state, and federal courts, he possesses a deep understanding of the legal "trenches".

Scott now uses that extensive courtroom experience to help his clients avoid the stress of litigation. He focuses on proactive, relationship-based planning designed to keep families out of court and in control of their legacies. His core practice areas include:

  • Estate Planning: Crafting Wills and Trusts that provide a clear, secure roadmap for the future.

  • Elder Law: Navigating the complexities of aging, from asset protection to benefit qualification.

  • Special Needs Planning: Ensuring a lifetime of advocacy and financial security for loved ones with disabilities.

Life in Missouri

A life-long musician, Scott has studied percussion, piano, and guitar since childhood and has performed in venues throughout Texas and Missouri. He resides in St. Louis and enjoys time at Table Rock Lake with his long-term girlfriend, a local neurotherapist and entrepreneur.

When away from his desk, Scott can be found working on his home, camping, or kayaking Missouri’s waterways with his dogs. He is the father of a daughter who graduated from the University of Dayton and is currently teaching in South America.
